Dr. Chau
is an assistant professor of the Department of Psychiatry, The Chinese
University of Hong Kong. His research interests lie in the complex interactions
between mental health and neurodegeneration. The two categories have
traditionally been investigated separately, but emerging evidence suggests that
they are closely linked. My research explores (i) the
potential of neuropsychiatric phenomena and subtle alterations of cognitive
processes as prognostic biomarkers of early-stage neurodegeneration using the
model of REM sleep behaviour disorder and (ii) how mental disorders affect
neurodegenerative risk. I employ multidisciplinary approaches and methods in my
research, with a special focus on model-driven computational analysis using
multimodal neuroimaging, molecular and microbiological data.
