I am a Professor of Neurology at Sorbonne University of Paris, France, and head of the Sleep Disorders Unit in Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital, Paris, France.

Our center is a national reference center for narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia and Kleine-Levin syndrome. We have also developed an expertise in NREM parasomnia and REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), whether idiopathic or associated  to Parkinson’s disease. In addition to researches focused on the mechanisms of these five disorders, we use RBD and lucid dreaming as models to directly access and understand the motor, cognitive and emotional functions of REM sleep. We recently studied smiles and grumpy faces in adult’s sleep, as well as obtained the first double communication during REM sleep in lucid dreamers.
