ASSM 2021 Acknowledgement
Dear Our Beloved Participants,
On behalf of the ASSM 2021 Organizing Committee, we would like to sincerely thank you for attending the 3rd Congress of Asian Society of Sleep Medicine (ASSM 2021) in Beijing, China, or participating online.
ASSM 2021 combined a large, in-person gathering with an online conference, with around 2000 registered participants from 39 countries. It featured 11 keynote speeches and 261 presentations in 57 symposium sessions contributed by speakers from 28 countries on sleep medicine and basic research. There were 171 young scholars presenting their latest scientific achievements, and ASSM 2021 selected 26 Young Investigator Awards and 39 Youth Travel Awards from 9 countries among 468 study abstract submissions.
In addition, the parallel virtual meeting of ASSM 2021 gave opportunities to overseas audience those who are unable to make it to Beijing at this particular time with COVID-19 effect. While virtual ASSM 2021 can make it challenging to feel connected, ASSM 2021 harnessed the power of video to include more than 200 overseas speakers in the plenary speeches and symposium sessions. Platform features like discussions and Q&As allowed attendees to communicate from afar, and many participants engaged on social media as well. The online audience included over 1500 professionals from 24 countries, many willing to disregard their circadian cues to attend Virtual ASSM 2021 with over 45,000 views.
ASSM 2021 greatly strengthened the development of sleep medicine and enhanced awareness of importance of sleep and sleep disorders. Without your invaluable participation, remarkable contribution and support, none of this would have been possible and we sincerely hope that your time with ASSM 2021 was both memorable and rewarding.
Meanwhile, we are very proud of ASSM board members and representatives of 16 membership societies of ASSM for their supports to the success of ASSM 2021. They showed how wonderful the future of ASSM will be.
Once again, please accept our deepest gratitude for taking your time for ASSM 2021 and we wish you stay safe and healthy in the years ahead.
We look forward to meeting you again in Bangkok, Thailand in 2023.
Warmest regards and best wishes,
Fang Han
